Dr. Brad Nelson, Ph.D., University of Victoria, Victoria, BC, Canada
Symposium Chair
Dr. Brad Nelson is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry at the University of Victoria. He serves on the Canary Foundation’s Science Team, dedicated to ovarian cancer research, and is Founding Director and Senior Scientist of the BC Cancer Agency’s Trev and Joyce Deeley Research Centre in Victoria, BC, where he also established an antibody research unit that produces antibodies and immunoassays for the Canary Foundation Panel Project. His research interests include the study of immune responses to cancer with the goal of developing immune-based strategies to prevent, detect, and treat cancer. Clinical specimens and murine models are used to investigate the complex interactions between the immune system and cancer at distinct stages of disease. Additionally, he employs in vivo models to analyze the T cell response to tumors at the molecular level. Dr. Nelson will chair Symposium IV: Targeted Therapies and Current and Emerging Clinical Trials.
