Dr. Anne-Marie Mes-Masson, Ph.D., Université de Montréal, Montréal, QC, Canada
National Advisory Committee Member and Symposium Chair
Dr. Anne-Marie Mes-Masson is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Departments of Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Université de Montréal. She is presently the scientific director of the Institut du cancer de Montréal, and Head of Cancer Research at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CR-CHUM). In 2003, Dr. Mes-Masson was named the Director of the Réseau de recherche sur le cancer (RRCancer) du Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ). She helped to establish in 2004 the Canadian Tumor Repository Network (CTRNet), an initiative funded by CIHR. She was also co-Chair of the 4th Canadian Conference in Ovarian Cancer Research held in Montreal in 2008. Her research focuses on the development of cancer models and the identification of molecular events that contribute to cancer development. Recent collaborative research includes the characterization of signature expression profiles in human ovarian cancer and their correlation to clinical parameters. This work has implications for the identification of clinically useful biomarkers and the identification of new therapeutic targets in ovarian cancer, and recent publications detail some of the more promising candidates and applications. Ongoing research also includes the development of novel human ovarian cancer cells, their molecular characterisation, and their use in complex cellular models to recapitulate the tumor microenvironment. Dr. Mes-Masson will chair Symposium I: Genomics and Proteomics in the Discovery of Novel Biomarkers and Therapies.
